Here comes the first Quake PC game since 1999: Quake 4. Not surprisingly, it's built around the Doom 3 engine and looks stunning, miles ahead of the earlier Quakes - huge outside battlegrounds, vehicles, the latest in shaders and lighting, impressive effects. But the gameplay sometimes seems a little stale - single-player feels like it could be an expansion pack to Doom 3, and multiplayer which often feels like a rehash of Quake 3. Nevertheless, it's a spectacle that FPS fans ought not miss.
